2022-23 Registration

2022-23 NHA Program Information and Registration

Hello NHA Players and Parents:

Welcome to the 2022-23 NHA hockey season! Below you will find information on registration for the 2022-23 Season. We have made some important changes, so be sure to read all the information provided in this letter.

Here is a high-level summary of important information and changes for this season:

  • Registration will be open until September 18 for all players wishing to play on traveling teams at Squirts/U10, Peewees/U12, and Bantams/U15.
  • Registration will remain open for Mites/Sr. Mites throughout the season, but those needing rental equipment must register by September 30.
  • We will not offer on-site registration this year. Everyone must register through the website.
  • The DIBs buyout will increase to $1,000 for the season.
  • We will continue with our co-op with Faribault for the Girls Program.

Registration is now open and will stay open until September 18th, 2022 for Squirts/U10 and older players who wish to play traveling hockey. Registration will remain open after September 18th for Mites/U6 and Sr. Mites/U8.

There will be no onsite registration this year and all players must register through the website.

For the 2022-23 season, NHA will again be doing a cooperative with Faribault Hockey Association for the Girls program at levels U8-U15. All players must still register through their home association. We will be hosting a parent meeting for the Girls co-op prior to the start of the season. If you would like more information on the girl’s program, please contact Brittney Hubbard our Girls Program Director. You can find her contact information on the Board page on the NHA website.

The NHA Boys program will not be a cooperative and will operate as in past seasons.

Currently, there are no restrictions in place from Minnesota Hockey regarding COVID-19 and safe play. We have not heard of any potential requirements coming and we will continue to communicate any information if we receive it. We will once again count on our NHA families to support us if any restrictions are put in place by remaining flexible and working with us to make this season a success.

Tryouts for Squirts/U10, Peewees/U12, and Bantams/U15s will occur in early to mid-October and will be completed by October 16th prior to MEA weekend.

Equipment Rental

Equipment rental is available for Sr. Mite/8U and Mites/Mini-Mites/6U for $50 for the season. If you are interested in renting equipment, please fill out the appropriate box during registration. A check for $200 will be required as a deposit for rental equipment. For more information or questions on equipment, please see our handbook or contact Ryan Sabyan, equipment manager, through our website. If you are in need of equipment, you must be registered and signed-up for equipment rental by September 30th.

If you are a first year Squirt/U10 or a new player to NHA at the Squirt/U10 or Peewee/J12 level, you will need to purchase a jersey. The cost is $70 and must be paid with registration. Please check the appropriate box when registering and more information will be provided regarding sizes and number availability. Players will need to be registered by September 18th and select the jersey purchase option in registration.

Volunteering, DIBS, and Fundraising

NHA is in strong need of more volunteers from families and have increased the buyout option to encourage more families to volunteer their time to the Association.  We were very short on volunteers this past season.  Volunteer/Concession (DIBS) hours is set at 20 hours per family again this year. We will be offering a buyout option for $1,000. If you wish to do the buyout, you can choose that option during registration and pay the $1,000 online. If you plan to complete your DIBS hours, you will need to deliver a deposit check for $1,000 to NHA prior to your first practice. Checks can be delivered to NHA via NHA box at the arena or given to a board member or team manager. The check will not be cashed unless the 20 DIBS hours are not completed by the end of the season

NHA Family will also be required to participate in NHA fundraising. NHA Fundraising this year will consist of the Heggie’s Pizza Sales.

Birth Certificate

Any players that are new to NHA or a first-year player, must provide a copy/picture of their birth certificate.  Birth Certificates can be uploaded during the registration process.

If you are seeking scholarship assistance, please contact the Northfield Community Action Center (CAC) prior to registration. You will not be able to register without an approval email from the CAC confirming you have completed your scholarship request. Please see the scholarship tab on our website for more information.

New Families

NHA will be hosting an informational meeting for new families to our association in early October. We will reach out to new families to confirm.
