Please sign up for the level of play that your athlete(s) will be at for the 2025-2026 season based on age, according to the following cut-offs:
**There is an option to pay in full at time of registration or choose a 2-payment option with partial payment up front and remainder of the amount to be paid on June 1st, 2025. If you register after June 1st, then there will only be the option to pay in full.
Maggie Malecha
Maggie graduated in 2022 from Northfield high school. She was a captain of the varsity team that made it to the state tournament that year where she received Senior Goalie of the Year, All State honors, and the Herb Brooks memorial award. Maggie just finished her Junior season on the University of St. Thomas women’s hockey team. She has coached Northfield summer hockey for 4 years. Last year Maggie was the leader of the revamped summer program and brings a ton of hockey knowledge and energy to practice. Maggie is looking forward to building on the success of last summer and can't wait to hit the ice this summer to work on improving skills, skating and stopping the puck. Maggie's infectious energy will help contribute to a fun summer atmosphere that will have kids falling in love with the game of hockey!
Izzy Stephes
Izzy graduated from Northfield High School in 2024 and was a captain for the varsity girl’s hockey team her senior year. During her varsity years, their team made the section finals each year, winning the section twice and qualifying for the State Tournament those same years. Izzy was honored in the Big 9 Conference as honorable mention and on the all-conference team her Junior and Senior years, as well as Academic All-State in 2024 and recipient of the Hobey Baker Award her Senior year. Izzy also made the USA State and National Hockey Development Camp her Freshmen and Sophomore years and qualified for the Final 54 her Junior year. In 2023, Izzy was on the USA Hockey Tier 1 Youth team that qualified for Nationals. She is now a freshman at UW-River Falls and plays on the Falcon Women’s Hockey team who were National DIII Champions in 2024 and remain top ranked in the Nation. She is majoring in Exercise Sport Science with plans to pursue Occupational Therapy and is excited to return to Northfield to work with developing the youth hockey program.
Kam Kaiser
Kamden Kaiser is a 2024 graduate from Northfield High School, where he was a standout player for the Raiders’ varsity hockey team. Kaiser and the Raiders’ played in the Minnesota State High School hockey tournament both his junior and senior years. He ended his high school hockey career setting two school records; career goals (107) and career hat tricks (14). Beyond hockey, Kaiser also showcased his athleticism in both football and baseball. He was recognized for a variety of athletic awards in all three sports, including Northfield High School 12-season Athlete Award and Outstanding Athlete Award, demonstrating his multi-sport talent during his high school years. Following his high school success, Kaiser played with the Austin Bruins and is currently playing for the Janesville Jets, both of the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
Karri Nachtigal and Carey Tinkelenberg
Carey Tinkelenberg and Karri Nachtigal have over 50 years of combined experience as professional, full-time skating coaches. They have developed programs for youth, high school, college, and semi-pro athletes and teams. Carey and Karri are the lead skating development pros for the Northfield Hockey Association, as well as instructors for associations in Lakeville, Minneapolis, Owatonna, and Hawkeye Hockey Services elite training programs.
Carey Tinkelenberg is the Founding Owner and Director of the Northfield Skating School, a national presenter and leadership author for U.S. Figure Skating and the Professional Skaters Association, and an inaugural business development specialist for Learn to Skate USA. She is a triple Master Rated coach and director, and has trained skating coaches on six continents as a Coach Developer with the International Skating Union. Carey holds a B.A. in Psychology from Carleton College.
Karri Nachtigal is the Head Coach for the District 196 Figure Skating team. She has helped guide the team to top 3 finishes at the International Skating Institute National Competition for the past 5 years. Karri attended the University of North Dakota and holds a B.S. in Education and minor in Psychology.
Driven by a shared philosophy of building skills and confidence for skating and for life, Coach C and Coach K are passionate about helping athletes maximize their potential in both the physical and mental aspects of ice sports. They are excited to be running skating clinics in Northfield again this summer!
