REGISTRATION IS A 3-STEP PROCESS

1. Register with USA Hockey All players must register every year to obtain a new USA Hockey number.

2. Register your player with NHA. Please make sure you have your new USA Hockey # handy as this is required when registering for NHA.

**NEW PLAYERS ONLY** will need to upload their birth certificate in order to complete registration. Please email registrar@northfieldhockey.net if you are having trouble completing the registration process.

There are also 2 DocuSign forms that need to be electronically signed & submitted in order to complete registration:

3. Attend one of the Mandatory Parent Meetings at Greenvale Elementary to submit your DIBS check, Fundraising check and obtain your cash raffle tickets.

These are the ONLY dates that tickets are available to pick-up.

Age levels based on birthdate

Please sign up for the level of play that your player will be at based on age (date of birth), according to the following cut-offs:

  • Mini Mite/U6: 6/1/19 - 5/31/23
  • Sr. Mite/U8: 6/1/17 - 5/31/19
  • Squirt/U10: 6/1/15 - 5/31/17
  • Peewee/U12: 6/1/13 - 5/31/15
  • Bantam: 6/1/11 - 5/31/13
  • U15: 6/1/10 - 5/31/13


Players ages:

  • 4-6 are considered Mini Mites.
  • 7-8 are considered Senior Mites (boys) or U8 (girls).
  • 9-10 are considered Squirts (boys) or U10 (girls).
  • 11-12 are considered Peewees (boys) or U12 (girls).
  • 13-14 are considered Bantams (boys) or U15 (girls).


Please see Move-Up Policy if you are interested in moving your player up to the next level. You must register your player at the appropriate cut-off based on birthdate and request a move-up within the registration. Grade level move-ups will be honored but you will be billed for the difference in cost. For all other move-up requests, your child must tryout or be evaluated by staff prior to being approved for a move-up. If approved to move-up, you will be billed for the difference in cost.

Registration fees

  • Mini Mite/U6 = $200 1st year / $270 returning player
  • Sr. Mite/U8 = $200 1st year / $700 returning player
  • Squirt/U10 = $550 1st year / $1,100 returning player
  • Peewee/U12 = $1,270
  • Bantams/U15 = $1,545
  • Goalies: 
  • Squirt/U10 = $550
  • PeeWee/U12 = $635
  • Bantam/U15 = $772.50

There is an option to pay in full at time of registration or choose a 3-payment option with partial payment up front and remainder paid on 11/15/26, 12/15/26 and 1/15/27.

  • Registration for Boys & Girls Travel (Squirts/U10 through Bantams/U15) will close on 8/9/26 – any athlete registered AFTER this date will have a $100 late fee invoiced after registering.
  • Registration for all Mites will close on 9/9/26 - any athlete registered AFTER this date will have a $50 late fee invoiced after registering.

Equipment and Jersey Information

  • RENTAL Equipment:
  • Rental equipment is available is available for purchase. The cost is $75 for one year (September - August). You can choose the option to rent equipment during the registration process.
  • Rental Equipment try-on/exchange date TBD.
  • Goalie equipment is available through the Squirt/U10 levels.
  • Each player is responsible for the proper maintenance of any NHA-issued equipment and equipment must be returned clean and in good repair at the end of each season. Players will be charged the Association's' cost for replacement of any lost or damaged equipment.
  • GAME Jerseys: NHA will continue with player-owned game jerseys at the Squirt/U10 and Peewee/U12 levels. NHA will supply game jerseys for the Mite, Sr.Mite/U8 and Bantam/U15 levels.
  • PRACTICE Jerseys: Practice jerseys are provided for Squirts/U10 and above - you will need to pick a size at registration and the practice jerseys will be worn for 2 years. If a jersey is lost or outgrown before the next season, a new jersey can be purchased during registration for $35.

Practices, Games and Tryout Information

When does the season start?

  • Practices for Squirts/U10 and above typically begin mid-September. Sr. Mites/U8 typically begin early October and Mites typically begin mid-October.
  • Pre-season skates at St.Olaf ice arena will continue - dates and times coming soon!


How often are practices?

  • At the Mite level, there are 1-2 hours per week of practices and scrimmages throughout the season.
  • The hours will increase as children move up to the higher levels of development.
  • Please review the NHA Handbook for the most up-to-date information regarding Target Ice Hours and Game/Scrimmage Limits.


Where and when will practices be every week?

  • The majority of practices are held at the Northfield Ice Arena but some practices may also be held at the Faribault Ice Arena, St. Olaf Ice Arena or Shattuck Ice Arena.
  • Games may be played across the greater metro region.


When are tryouts?

  • Tryouts for Squirts/U10 and above typically occur early to mid-October.

Volunteering/DIBS Requirements

Volunteering is an extremely important part of making our association run smoothly.

  • For Mini Mite/U6 players, volunteer/concession (DIBS) hours will be set at 10 hours per family with an option to buyout for $500.
  • For Sr.Mite/U8 players and above, volunteer/concession (DIBS) hours will be set at 20 hours per family with an option to buyout for $1000.
  • Please choose your option upon registration.
  • All families will be asked to provide a check for either $500 or $1000, accordingly, at the mandatory meeting. The check will NOT be cashed unless the required DIBS hours are not completed by the end of the season.

Fundraising

Fundraising will continue to be MANDATORY for every family in order to continue to keep . Each family MUST select one of the fundraising options available during registration. You can participate in both options, but must select one.

If you do not wish to participate in fundraising, you MUST select the Buyout option.

As of 2026-27 season, NHA will no longer be doing a cooperative with Faribault Hockey Association for girls programs.
